Thirty women and thirty men will enter two over-the-top-rope battle royals Saturday in San Antonio (8 p.m. ET, Peacock) to kick off the Road to WrestleMania.
On the line: a guaranteed championship shot at WrestleMania 39 in April in Los Angeles.
The men’s Rumble is headlined by Cody Rhodes, who will return from surgery to repair a torn pectoral in his first action since June. The Rumble is usually good for a few surprise returns, but other confirmed entrants include United States champion Austin Theory, Intercontinental champion Gunther, Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus.
On the women’s side, Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez and Shayna Baszler are among the announced participants jockeying for a shot at either Raw champion Bianca Belair or SmackDown champ Charlotte Flair.
The man who holds both the Universal and WWE championships, of course, is Roman Reigns, who will put both titles on the line against Kevin Owens in a continuation of the company’s hottest storyline. Sami Zayn is on thin ice with the Tribal Chief, and he was told his final test will come at the Royal Rumble. Will this be the end of the Honorary Uce following Monday’s trial?
