A new WTA tournament that is set to take place at the Queen’s Club in 2025 is already experiencing difficulties after reportedly numerous club members have been left “furious” over not being consulted on the decision.
For many years, the Queen’s Club has been hosting an ATP 500 grass tournament, which is widely regarded as one of the top in the ATP 500 category. In mid-May, the Queen’s Club shared a very important announcement as they revealed that from 2025 they are planning to host ATP/WTA 500 tournaments, with the women’s tournament taking place a week before the existing pre-Wimbledon event.
But not everyone seems to be so thrilled about a new WTA tournament at the Queen’s Club, as according to British paper i, a group of members are planning legal action to stop it from going ahead. The Queen’s Club is not only one of the most prestigious tennis clubs in Great Britain, but also in the world, and the fee to become a member is listed at £15k – or $19.1k when converted to US dollars.
