Wrexham will compete in a 7-a-side tournament in the US this summer with a $1million (£825,000) prize.
The tournament will mark the first time Wrexham — owned by Hollywood’s Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney — have travelled to the US, and will see a team of club legends compete for the prize.
Wrexham, who are in the midst of their campaign in the fifth tier of English football and aiming to win promotion, have starred in the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ docuseries on Disney+, that has seen them attract global attention.
In the tournament, which will take place in Cary, North Carolina, Wrexham will play alongside 31 other teams, which includes representatives from Hashtag United, the UK esports team, former USMNT international Clint Dempsey’s Team Dempsey, and US Women, a group of former USWNT players organised by Heather O’Reilly.
