Which “USC” is the top overall seed in the Women’s NCAA Tournament?
South Carolina and Southern California love to claim that USC label, and right now both teams are hot heading into their conference tournaments.
South Carolina won a coin flip to get the No. 1 overall seed ahead of Texas in the SEC tournament, and have won four in a row since an 87-58 loss to UConn on Feb. 16. USC – the Trojans, that is – beat UCLA 80-67 to claim the Big Ten regular-season championship. The Gamecocks and Trojans are our top two teams as a result – followed closely by Texas and UCLA on the No. 1 lines.
The Longhorns split their regular-season matchups with South Carolina. The Trojans swept the Bruins.
Those potential third matchups during conference tournament week will help determine the order of our No. 1 seeds on Selection Sunday.
This year’s Women’s Final Four is April 4-6 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla.
