The stage has been set for the 2024 Women’s College World Series, and if the 2024 NCAA softball tournament has been any indication, the next round should be one for the ages.
Softball fans were treated to a thrilling round of super regionals that featured six of the eight series going the full three games. It featured upsets, with No. 14 Alabama taking down No. 3 Tennessee and No. 10 Duke eliminating No. 7 Missouri, and plenty of scares, with No. 1 Texas on the ropes against No. 16 Texas A&M and No. 4 Florida hanging on late against unranked Baylor.
There’s the program with three straight national championships in Oklahoma. There’s the program with the most national championships with 13 in UCLA. There’s also the fledgling Duke program, which has reached the College World Series for the first time in the six years of its existence.
Oklahoma State is red hot, ending the regular series with wins against No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Oklahoma. There’s also Stanford, which features the best pitcher in the country who has powered the Cardinal to another College World Series appearance.
