The holiday break is upon us, so it is a perfect time to celebrate the gifts that the best teams in the country have bestowed upon their fans at this time of the year.

• In the absence of Grace Berger, Indiana has simply pulled another player of the year candidate out of the bag in the form of Mackenzie Holmes. The senior center has been among the most efficient bigs in the country, converting 69 percent of her field-goal attempts on a usage rate of 30 percent. She even splashed in her first 3-pointer of the season on a bank shot against Butler, which she sheepishly celebrated as she ran back down the court.

Holmes has seamlessly accepted the role as the hub of the Hoosiers offense, allowing such newcomers as Yarden Garzon and Sydney Parrish to find their way. Parrish, an Oregon transfer, has excelled at taking care of the ball while also forcing steals and collecting defensive rebounds,…
