Seniesa Estrada held on to her WBC and WBA strawweight belts Friday night and, in doing so, may have set up the undisputed title fight she’s been waiting for.
Estrada, ESPN’s No. 1 strawweight, defeated Leonela Yudica by unanimous decision in Las Vegas — a fight that appeared to be one of the toughest of her career — and retained the top spot in the division.
It was the third straight decision win for Estrada (25-0, 9 KO), who last had a stoppage in 2021. It was the second loss in three fights for Yudica (19-2-3, 1 KO), who debuted at strawweight after an almost nine-year reign as the IBF flyweight champion.
Next up for Estrada could be a bout with Yokasta Valle, the No. 2 fighter at strawweight and the IBF and WBO titleholder, for the undisputed championship.
At junior flyweight, Tania Enriquez knocked out previously-unbeaten Cecilia Nino Rodriguez (10-1-1, 5 KO) in the first round in Tijuana, Mexico. The win moved the 26-year-old Enriquez (21-1, 10 KO) to No. 4 in the junior flyweight rankings, above Anabel Ortiz.
