Wolfsburg reach Women’s Champions League final following dramatic 3-2 victory at Emirates

Wolfsburg have progressed to the Champions League final after a dramatic 3-2 victory over Arsenal in the semi-final second leg at the Emirates on Monday.

The two teams entered the game tied after the 2-2 in the first leg in Germany on April 23 and the two sides were level at the same scoreline for large periods of the game in London.

However, a late winner from Pauline Bremmer in the 119th minute secured the victory and progression to the final for the German side, 3-2 winners on the night and 5-4 winners on aggregate.

They will face Barcelona in the final after the Spanish side beat Chelsea across two legs in the other semi-final.

Arsenal took the lead in the 11th minute when Stina Blackstenius capitalised on a defensive mistake and tapped the ball home into an empty net.

Wolfsburg were level in the 41st minute through Jill Roord and took the lead after half-time thanks to Alexandra Popp, however, the north London side drew level in the 75th minute after a powerful header from Jen Beattie evaded Wolfsburg goalkeeper Merle Frohms.
