WNBA: Teresa Weatherspoon talks expectations for Chicago Sky

When it comes to basketball, Teresa Weatherspoon knows a thing or two about how to play the game the right way: with grit, determination and passion.

As she begins her stint as the head coach of the Chicago Sky, she will rely on those tangibles that have guided her career as a player, coach and director of player development, and now will steer her through what is already becoming one of the most highly-anticipated WNBA seasons ever.

Just as she is starting anew, so is the Sky.

After an offseason in which the team lost much of the remaining core that led them to the title in 2021, along with some key veteran talent, the Sky were able to snatch some experience in a series of trades and signings, bringing Brianna Turner, Chennedy Carter, Lindsey Allen and 2021 champion Diamond DeShields to Chicago to play alongside fellow veterans Elizabeth Williams, Isabelle Harrison and Dana Evans. The team also hit the jackpot in the draft with the selections of Kamilla Cardoso at No. 3 and Angel Reese at No. 7.
