The biggest move of WNBA trade deadline day was not a trade, but a re-signing: French Olympic hero Gabby Williams re-signed with the Seattle Storm.
Yesterday, Eric Nemchock analyzed the Storm’s defensive struggles. Williams, certainly, will help Seattle rediscover their defensive focus, while also adding an extra dose of disruptiveness. In her 10 games playing for the Storm last season, Williams averaged 1.5 steals per game.
The Minnesota Lynx, the last team to see an in-season trade turn into a championship, took a swing in hopes of raising their ceiling, acquiring Myisha Hines-Allen from the Washington Mystics in exchange for Olivia Èpoupa, Sika Koné and a second-round pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft. Hines-Allen has been one of the more productive reserves in the league this season, averaging 8.0 points, nearly five rebounds and almost three assists in just under 20 minutes per game. She’s also shooting 35.9 percent from 3, something she’ll likely be expected to do more with Minnesota.
