WNBA: On-court and off-court excitement for the Las Vegas Aces

It’s been quite the rollercoaster of a season for the Las Vegas Aces so far. And believe it or not, it has only been one week.

In these past seven days, A’ja Wilson’s signature shoe has been confirmed along with a one-of-a-kind marketing campaign by Nike, the squad has opened to a 2-1 record, every player has secured a $100,000 endorsement deal and the team is under investigation regarding those deals by the WNBA.

It is only week one, everybody.

Vegas is all in on the Aces, but is the WNBA?

The endorsements investigated by the league are on behalf of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. They supposedly were worked out with the players privately and the Aces organization had nothing to do with the deals, according to Becky Hammon in a post-game interview following the team win over the Los Angeles Sparks. Each player’s deal is worth $100,000, but other details have yet to be revealed, prompting the investigation by the league.

The squad jumped to a flawless two-game start before sinking for their first loss versus the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday evening. The team is still playing at the same championship-caliber while A’ja Wilson looks to be off to an early start for M’VP candidacy, tagging just over 24 points,…
