The wait is over! The WNBA is back!
On Friday night, a trio of games will kick off regular-season action.
Things start at 7:30 p.m. ET with the Washington Mystics hosting the Atlanta Dream while the Dallas Wings face the Minnesota Lynx. Then the night concludes with the Golden State Valkyries playing the Los Angeles Sparks at 10 p.m. ET.
All three games will be broadcast on ION. These matchups, along with select games through May 21, also will be available to stream for free through WNBA League Pass as part of the league’s Tip-Off Test Drive.
So, we know what’s on the schedule, but what should we be watching for? Here are the most intriguing storylines in the three season openers:
Rookie, vet bigs make their respective debuts
We have vastly different debuts happening in the matchup between the Dream and the Mystics.
For Washington, Kiki Iriafen will make her official WNBA debut. The rookie from USC is having a heck of a week. She just earned her master’s degree in entrepreneurship and innovation and celebrated the accomplishment after practice on Thursday.
Friday, she’ll suit up for her first regular-season action as a Mystic, while Brittney Griner will be doing the same for the Dream.
