On Friday afternoon, less than one week after the organization fired head coach Christie Sides, the Indiana Fever hired, or re-hired, Stephanie White as head coach.
White, who was dismissed by the Connecticut Sun on Monday, previously served as the Fever’s head coach from 2015 to 2016. Prior to that, White was an assistant coach in Indiana from 2011 to 2014. She played for the franchise from 2000 to 2004.
On the decision to bring White back to the Fever, president of basketball operations Kelly Krauskopf said:
As we enter this new era of Fever basketball, I am thrilled to welcome Stephanie back to the franchise. Stephanie is a part of the fabric of this franchise, both as a former player and as a member of our championship coaching staff, so I’m quite familiar with her elite basketball IQ and leadership style. I am confident there is no one who better understands our culture or is more equipped to lead our group of players to the next level.
On returning to Indiana, White shared:
