WNBA: Dream move on from head coach Tanisha Wright after three seasons

Well, the Atlanta Dream decided that she is not the Wright coach.

On Wednesday afternoon, Atlanta general manager and executive vice president Dan Padover announced that the organization would not be retaining Tanisha Wright as head coach. Padover issued the following statement:

The Atlanta Dream have made the difficult decision to part ways with head coach Tanisha Wright. Tanisha was an important contributor in our efforts to rebuild the Dream, and we want to thank her for her hard work and dedication to the Dream over the last three seasons and wish her the best in the future. At this time, we believe a change is needed to lead our players and organization to the next chapter in our efforts to be a top team in the WNBA.

Wright had just completed the second year of the five-year contract extension she signed after the 2022 season, when she was named Coach of the Year by the Associated Press. Wright departs with a 48-68 record, and is responsible for leading the Dream to back-to-back playoff appearances in 2023 and 2024.

On social media, Wright expressed appreciation for her time on the sidelines in Atlanta, writing:
