Pretty much every WNBA fan knows which player will hear her name called first tonight in New York City, but what are the sportsbook odds suggesting about how the rest of the WNBA Draft will unfold?
Last year, Caitlin Clark’s odds to go first overall were removed ahead of the draft because she was such a heavy favorite. It’s a similar story this year for Paige Bueckers, as BetMGM is not offering a betting market for the first pick. Before the odds got pulled, the UConn product was -20000 (bet $20,000 to win $100) on DraftKings to be the top pick, which is currently held by the Dallas Wings.
“Bueckers is a clear lock for No. 1,” said Hannah Luther, sports trader at BetMGM. “After her tournament performance, she has cemented herself to be the first pick of the WNBA Draft.”
When BetMGM released its WNBA Draft markets last week, Dominique Malonga was at -500 (bet $500 to win $100) to be the second pick and has since moved to a slightly shorter price of -550.
Malonga, a French player who is 19 years old and stands at 6-foot-6, opened at -125 at DraftKings two weeks ago, just ahead of USC’s Kiki Iriafen at +135 (bet $100 to win $135).
