It’s time to see which team will get the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
A lottery is used to determine the draft order for teams that did not compete in the recent season’s playoffs. The lottery odds are based on cumulative records of the most recent seasons, 2022 and 2023. Indiana will have the best odds with a record of 18-58, followed by Phoenix at 24-52, Los Angeles at 30-46 and Seattle at 33-43.
The drawing is done by mixing 14 numbered balls in a lottery machine. Four will be drawn for a four-digit combination, and the team assigned that combination will get the No. 1 pick. The process is repeated for the second pick, but the third and fourth picks are determined differently.
The team with the lowest record from the past two seasons whose numerical combination was not produced will receive the third selection, and the remaining franchise gets pick No. 4. This means the Fever will not select any lower than No. 3.
