Congratulations to the Connecticut Sun’s DiJonai Carrington, the 2024 Kia WNBA Most Improved Player.
The 20th overall selection in the 2021 WNBA Draft, the fourth-year wing turned in a career season as a first-time full-season starter for the No. 3-seed Sun, averaging highs in points (12.7), rebounds (5.0), assists (1.3) and steals (0.63). She was integral to the Sun’s league-best defense, leading all players in games with at least five steals.
Receiving 28 of 67 votes from a national media panel, she is the fifth Sun player to be named Most Improved Player, joining Brionna Jones (2021), Jonquel Jones (2017), Kelsey Bone (2015) and Wendy Palmer (2004).
The Los Angeles Sparks’ Dearica Hamby finished second with 18 votes, followed by the Minnesota Lynx’s Bridget Carleton’s 15 votes. Chennedy Carter of the the Chicago Sky earned three votes, while the Seattle Storm’s Jordan Horston, New York Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu and Lynx’s Alanna Smith each received one vote.
