The Minnesota Lynx used a strong second-half effort to win the 2024 Commissioner’s Cup Championship with a 94-89 victory against the New York Liberty. The team has earn a share of a $500,000 prize pool, as well as $5,000 in crypto currency through Coinbase.
Bridget Carleton came in clutch for the Lynx with a 23-point performance that included six 3-pointers. The 6-foot-1 forward did a little bit of everything and added four rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Carleton was one of five double-digit scorers for Minnesota, with the whole team shooting 47.8% from the field and 48.3% from beyond the arc. Napheesa Collier was another standout with 21 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block.
Although the Liberty suffered a 17-point loss to the Lynx when they met earlier this season, Tuesday’s game was much closer. New York outrebounded Minnesota 43-25, but the Lynx won 20-6 in fast break points.
