Takeaways from the CFP opening round

1. The home game atmospheres were great. Tennessee fans invaded the Horseshoe. The state of Indiana enjoyed a historic first. The on-campus ambiance is perhaps the best part of the new Playoff format. I asked The Athletic’s reporters who were in attendance to describe the CFP home game atmospheres:

Pete Sampson, Notre Dame writer: Notre Dame’s home crowd met the moment on Friday night, from “College GameDay” to the rally towels to drowning out whatever section of Indiana fans got inside the stadium. For all the hype about what an on-campus Playoff game might feel like, Notre Dame actually exceeded it. (Pete also said his wife, who was in the crowd, described it as “better than Taylor Swift.” 👀)
