Last year, we saw an impressive back-to-back triumph in the women’s singles, while a surging young gun took out the men’s draw.

​Aryna Sabalenka def. Zheng Qinwen

Sabalenka claimed consecutive Australian Open crowns when she beat Qinwen Zheng in the 2024 final.

After a thrilling decider against Elena Rybakina the year prior, it was more straightforward on this occasion, with the Belarusian winning 6-3 6-2.

She took just one hour and 17 minutes to win her second career major. 

The world No. 1 is naturally the favourite to take out the title again in 2025. 

Iga Świątek — who has never gone all the way in Melbourne — will also be in contention, as well as talented 20-year-old Coco Gauff.
