Who won Fever vs. Aces game today? A’ja Wilson claims single-season scoring record in win over Caitlin Clark & Co.

Date:

WNBA MVP front-runner A’ja Wilson scored 27 points in the Aces’ 86-75 win over the Fever on Wednesday night, breaking Jewell Loyd’s single-season scoring record in the process.

Despite a slow start, Las Vegas pulled ahead of Indiana in the second quarter and never looked back. Wilson notched in a double-double on her historic night, pulling in 12 boards. Alysha Clark and Tiffany Hayes played big roles in the victory off the bench, combining for 26 points and 7-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc.

Defensively, the Aces held rookie phenom Caitlin Clark to her lowest point total in a game since the two teams last faced off on July 2, when she scored 13 points. She also had her worst game from 3-point range in the WNBA, hitting just one shot in 10 attempts from downtown.

Still, even though Clark’s 16 tonight were not enough to propel the Fever to a win, she dished out six assists and is now five away from the single-season record.

Kelsey Mitchell had a stellar performance despite the loss, pulling in 24 points. Nevertheless, the Fever were simply outplayed by the Aces, which scored 13 points off 14 turnovers. The two teams meet again this Friday back at Gainbridge in Indianapolis to round out the season series.
