Another season of the UEFA Women’s Champions League is upon us with the group stage finally drawn.
In truth, the UWCL has already given us its fair share of shocks and drama, with Paris FC emerging as team of the moment. The Parisians played four tough games against two of the strongest teams in Europe – last season’s semi-finalists Arsenal and finalists Wolfsburg – and knocked both out of the competition. Their achievements have already given us a taste of what to expect going into this season’s group stages.
Instead of breaking down each group, we’ve chosen to analyze this draw with a look at four categories: the favorites to win, group stage surprise team, potential disappointments and breakout player to watch. Each of these categories will give us a better idea of what we can expect from different sides.
