Barcelona and Lyon met in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final for the second time in three seasons. The French giants won 3-1 back in 2022 to deny the Catalans a second straight trophy, although they returned a year later to reclaim the prize, defeating Wolfsburg 3-2 in the Netherlands. In 2024, Aitana Bonmati and Alexia Putellas gave Barca a 2-0 win at San Mames to seal an historic quadruple of titles.
Barca and Lyon have been two of the dominant forces in European women’s football over the past 15 years and Saturday’s match lived up to the billing in front of a record crowd of just over 50,000 spectators. But which team has the greatest level of success in this tournament’s history?
