Fever rookie Caitlin Clark made her WNBA debut on Friday against the Wings, recording a team-high 21 points in 28 minutes. Indiana lost, 79-76, in the preseason matchup, but it was a solid showing for the young squad.
Now, Clark will make her home debut against the Dream in the Fever’s final preseason game on Thursday night.
The clash between the Fever and Dream will be a test of roster depth and incredible talent. Unfortunately, Indiana won’t be at its full potential yet, as Kelsey Mitchell is expected to sit out once again with an ankle injury. Mitchell’s absence will force newbies like Clark and Celeste Taylor to make their impact loud and clear.
The Dream defeated the Mystics, 87-84, in their preseason opener. Every player that stepped on the court scored at least four points, including 2022 Rookie of the Year award winner Rhyne Howard. During the offseason, Atlanta added some much-needed experience by acquiring Tina Charles and Jordin Canada, who is currently dealing with a hand injury.
While smaller franchises, both the Fever and Dream are expected to have breakout seasons in 2024. We’ll get a good look at them on Thursday.
