The 2024 edition of Big Blue Madness is set to tip off on Friday night, giving Kentucky basketball fans an opportunity to check out the retooled men’s and women’s basketball teams.
After a disappointing end to the 2023-24 campaign, the men’s basketball team will enter this season with a renewed focus — and a new leader. Mark Pope was hired as the new head coach of the men’s basketball team in April after John Calipari stepped down and went to Arkansas. Pope led BYU to a 23-11 record and No. 6 seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
Just like the men’s team, the Kentucky women’s basketball team will also have a new face on the sideline. Kenny Brooks was named the women’s basketball head coach in March, making the leap from Virginia Tech to the SEC.
