If you’re tuning into ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” before the Week 5 game between the Packers and Raiders, you will see some fresh faces hosting the show.
And no, we’re not talking about Scott Van Pelt.
Van Pelt became the new face of “Monday Night Countdown” ahead of the 2023 NFL season when he assumed the post vacated by Suzy Kolber. However, he won’t be on air in Week 5, and that has left ESPN moving to its backup plan for hosting the show.
What is that backup plan? It will be getting a double dose of Buck, as Michelle Beisner-Buck will run the pregame show alongside her colleague and husband Joe Buck.
According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Buck will host the first part of the show before turning things over to his wife sometime in the 7 p.m. ET hour so he can prepare for the game broadcast.
While the pregame “Buck-cast”, if you will, should create some interesting television, many will be wondering why Van Pelt isn’t on the pregame show. Here’s what to know about his status for “Monday Night Countdown” in Week 6 and beyond.
