Through her Iowa career, Caitlin Clark has made history: the first Division I women’s basketball player with a 40-point triple-double, the first with 3,000 points, 750 rebounds and 750 assists, and more 30-point games than any player in the last 25 years. As a senior, she’s closing in on perhaps the most important record.
Within a few weeks, Clark is on track to surpass former Washington star Kelsey Plum’s all-time women’s college basketball scoring record of 3,527 career points, set in 2017.
Clark has been a dynamic scorer throughout her career, hitting memorable logo 3s and racking up points in bunches. She’s expected to hit the mark with room to spare before the end of the regular season. She should leap past Jackie Stiles and Kelsey Mitchell during Wednesday’s game at Northwestern. She recently passed Brittney Griner to ascend to fourth place on the all-time scoring list.
1. Plum, Washington (2013-17): 3,527 career points
2. Mitchell, Ohio State (2014-18): 3,402
3. Stiles, Missouri State (1997-2001): 3,393
4. Clark, Iowa (2020-24): 3,389
If she keeps up her national-best scoring pace of 32 points per game, Clark would eclipse Plum on Feb. 15.
