One of the most-anticipated basketball players coming out of high school, Paige Bueckers did what no one else had done in their freshman season.
Her first season with UConn in 2021 earned her the Wooden Award, Naismith Trophy, USBWA Player of the Year and AP Player of the Year. She was the first freshman to win any of those awards.
Bueckers’ next couple of years with the Huskies were injury-ridden, putting her college and professional careers on hold. She’s back on the court now, and despite her setbacks is still one of the best players in the country.

As a freshman, she lived up to the hype. She led the Huskies in points (581), assists (168), steals (66) and 3-point field-goal percentage (46.4). She set the single-game assist record (14) against Butler and set the freshman season record for assists (168).
