The UConn Huskies take their 13-game winning streak back home to face Notre Dame in an inter-conference matchup.
UConn took down Marquette this past Tuesday in an 85-59 drubbing thanks to 26 points from Paige Bueckers. The Huskies are 9-0 in the Big East, 2.5 games clear of second-place Creighton.
Notre Dame, meanwhile, just lost to Syracuse at home this past Thursday and fell to sixth in the ACC. The Fighting Irish had previously won four consecutive games thanks to big performances from freshman guard Hannah Hidalgo before falling to the Orange.
UConn remains one of the most well-rounded teams in women’s college basketball despite the series of injuries the Huskies have endured this season. Bueckers’ 20.1 points lead the team, while Aaliyah Edwards is right behind her with 16.4 points and leads the Huskies with 8.3 rebounds per game.
Hidalgo paces the Fighting Irish with 23.9 points, but she also distributes the rock well with a team-high 5.9 assists per game. She also averages 5.4 steals per game, which leads the nation by more than one per game. Fellow guard Sonia Citron is also impressive for Notre Dame with 18.3 points per game and 4.3 rebounds. Forward Maddy Westbeld averages 13.5 points and a team-high 9.4 rebounds per game.
