Coco Gauff is arguably the biggest name in American tennis at the moment, bursting onto the scene while still in high school and proving her credentials with every passing WTA Tour.
It’s been a tale of breakaway success and near-misses for the now 19-year-old since her first tour back in 2018, but 2023 was the year she climbed to the top of the mountain, winning the US Open on home soil for the first grand slam title of her burgeoning career.
That mountain doesn’t level out anytime soon though, and Gauff is straight back into the thick of the action with the first grand slam of 2024 — the Australian Open. Melbourne Park awaits, and the world number four is ready for action at a venue she’s struggled to make much of an impact on.
While she may have reached the quarters and the final (twice) as a doubles player, Gauff’s singles campaigns at the Australian Open have never advanced further than the fourth round.
