What golf balls do LPGA Tour stars use? Most who face this question reply quickly: “balls specially made for women.” But that is not precisely the answer. Among the most chosen balls, we find that practically all of them are the same ones used by men on the regular tour.
An investigation carried out at the end of last season with the best 25 players on the LPGA Tour showed interesting data. Obviously, the stars use the best balls available on the market, allowing them to obtain excellent results depending on the characteristics of their game.
Titleist is on top
The most chosen golf ball brand is Titleist, with more than 70% adherence. This percentage is divided into 44% for the Pro V1x model and 28% for Pro V1. Jin Young Ko, Lydia Ko, Hyo Joo Kim, Jennifer Kupcho, and Jessica Korda are among the prominent ambassadors of the ball made by Acushnet Golf.
Built in four pieces, the Pro V1x is designed to go long distances with the best spin. The latest model of this ball has a softer cast urethane elastomer cover, which improves performance on approach shots, especially around the green. Undoubtedly, a ball made to win.
Considered the best of all balls, Acushnet is constantly working on the perfect design that allows golfers to have a ball that suits their needs. Whether it’s height, feel, spin, or speed, Titleist has established itself at the top of the rankings on all circuits worldwide.
The rest of the balls are much further back in this list. TaylorMade is chosen by only 13% of the top 25 players who use the TP5x model. The remainder is completed by Srixon (8%), Bridgestone (4%), and Callaway (4%).
The choice of a good ball is crucial in professional golf. The golfers pick it because they focus on performance. But it is also true that some players prefer to use a ball that allows access to a contract or additional benefit. For now, the best golf balls are all good; specialists can only see differences.
And you, what ball are you currently using?
