The U.S. women have their final two competitive matches before the 2024 Summer Olympics as they contest a reconfigured version of the SheBelieves Cup on home soil.
With incoming head coach Emma Hayes nearly set to take charge of the team as Chelsea’s season draws closer to a conclusion, Twila Kilgore will lead the USWNT one last time, having taken down Japan 2-1 in the semifinals which sets up a meeting with Canada in the final.
The reorganization of the SheBelieves Cup has scrapped the old round robin format in favor of a straight four-team mini bracket. The United States will play 7th-ranked Japan in one semifinal, while 9th-ranked Canada will take on 10th-ranked Brazil in the other.
Then, the winners will play in a title game while the losers will meet in a third-place matchup, ensuring all teams get two games in the competition, rather than the old version which featured three matches for all nations.
Of the four participants, only Japan has not confirmed a place at the Olympics in Paris this coming summer, with their qualifying tournament still to be played in two weeks time.
