UConn is off to a strong start to its 2024-25 campaign, winning the first two games by wide margins.
Now, the No. 2 Huskies get their first ranked test against No. 14 North Carolina. The Tar Heels have started the season 3-0, defeating Charleston Southern, UNC Wilmington and North Carolina A&T.
Graduate student guard Lexi Donarski is leading North Carolina on its impressive 3-0 start, averaging 15 points per game on 50 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent from deep. She’s also adding two steals per contest.
She’ll get perhaps her most difficult matchup of the season against Paige Bueckers in a neutral-site game in Greensboro, N.C.
Sarah Strong, the nation’s No. 1 high school recruit last year, slots in beside Bueckers in the backcourt. Strong is averaging 15 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and four steals per game.
This is a UConn team that looks sharp as ever, yet doesn’t have Azzi Fudd in the rotation yet as she recovers from injuries.
