One win away from sunny Florida.
As the NCAA Tournament trucks along, the Elite Eight teams in women’s college basketball inch closer to a trip to the Sunshine State and the Final Four. Among the teams looking to get closer to championship glory are UCLA and LSU.
No. 1 seed UCLA (33-2) has spent the tournament showing why the Bruins were considered the best team in the country. The Bruins, behind three double digit performances from center Lauren Betts, defeated No. 16 seed Southern, No. 8 seed Richmond and No. 5 seed Ole Miss to reach the Elite Eight.
No. 3 seed LSU (31-5) quelled those doubts surrounding Flau’jae Johnson and Aneesah Morrow by putting up two 100-point performances against No. 14 seed San Diego State and No. 6 FSU. LSU scored slightly fewer points (80) against No. 2 seed NC State, but it was enough to advance to the Elite Eight.
