One of the most popular events on the golf calendar, The Match 2024 will take place on Monday night. Golfers are mic’d up, showing insight into their strategies, and former NBA star Charles Barkley also trades barbs with the players, who are competing for their favorite charities.
With a 6:30 p.m. ET start, the 12-hole event will be under the lights and televised on multiple networks. For the first time, The Match will be a mixed skins format with each hole worth a specified amount for charity.
The golf pros headlining The Match 2024 are Max Homa, Rory McIlroy, Lexi Thompson and Rose Zhang.
Homa is one of the game’s rising young players and he has won six times on the PGA Tour, including twice in 2023. He was also part of the US Ryder Cup team in 2023. Homa is the seventh-ranked player in the world.
McIlroy is one of the game’s most popular players. He is a four-time major winner and 38 total wins in his career, including most recently the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in January. McIlroy is ranked second in the world and his dynamic personality should be perfect for The Match.
