The Tennessee women’s basketball team will look to extend its winning streak to seven games when the Volunteers take on Texas A&M in an SEC matchup on Sunday, Jan. 14.
The Volunteers approved to 3-0 in the conference with an 88-81 victory over Florida on Thursday.
Senior Jewel Spear and junior Sara Puckett scored 20 points apiece. Spear shot 50 percent from the field and 91 percent from the free throw line on 10 free throws. Puckett went 4-of-5 from behind the arc.
Rickea Jackson finished with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Tennessee out-rebounded Florida 49-34 and had 14 assists. The Volunteers scored 10 points off Gators’ five turnovers. Tennessee made a season-high 26 of 30 free-throw attempts.
The Volunteers have come from double digits down to win all three SEC games this season.
Texas A&M fell to 1-2 in the SEC with an 87-70 loss to No. 7 LSU on Thursday.
The Aggies entered the game with the nation’s top scoring defense (48.9 ppg) and No. 2 field-goal percentage defense (31.4-percent), but LSU had all five starters score in double figures.
Texas A&M guard Endyia Rogers went 11-of-22 from the field and had 27 points on and added a season-high nine rebounds with five assists.
