No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 3 Oregon State are set to face off in a competitive Sweet 16 matchup after some impressive performances in the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament.
The Fighting Irish dominated Ole Miss in the second round after beating Kent State in their March Madness opener. The Beavers began their tournament run with a 22-point victory over Eastern Washington, then eliminated Nebraska in the second round.
Notre Dame’s Sonia Citron played the full 40 minutes in the most recent win over Ole Miss, finishing with 17 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Maddy Westbeld also never came off the floor, leading all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field.
Talia von Oelhoffen and Timea Gardiner combined to score 36 of Oregon State’s 61 points against Nebraska. The Beavers had a rough shooting stretch in the second and third quarters, but they got hot in the final frame to secure the victory.
