No. 10 LSU will look to rebound from its second loss of the season when it takes on Alabama on Thursday evening.
The Tigers (16-2) carried a 16-game winning streak into Sunday’s contest against Auburn. But LSU suffered a 67-62 loss, their first defeat since the season opener. The Tigers’ high-powered offense, which had averaged 93.8 points per game, went cold, shooting just 42% from the field.
LSU will rely on its arsenal of star players to get back on track. Angel Reese, who averages 20.1 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, notched 24 points and 11 boards against Auburn. But the trio of Aneesah Morrow, Mikaylah Williams and Flau’jae Johnson each scored less than their season average, leaving more to be desired.
Alabama enters the game tied for fifth place in the SEC, with a 15-4 record and a 2-2 mark in conference play. Senior Sarah Ashlee Baker is in the midst of a career season, averaging a team-high 16.4 points per game. Last year, she netted just 6.9 points per game.
Last time out, the Crimson Tide suffered a 77-59 drubbing at the hands of Arkansas. Alabama shot just 37% from the field while the Razorbacks out-rebounded the Tide, 52-35. Plus, Arkansas ended the game on a 24-12 stretch.
