The only thing standing between Caitlin Clark and a trip to the Sweet Sixteen is West Virginia.
The Hawkeyes (30-4), fresh off a run to the national championship game a year ago, have their eyes set on bigger goals. But the road back to the title game is more granular, and Iowa started its journey with a smooth, 91-65 victory over Holy Cross on Saturday.
Clark was her usual self, scoring 27 points while adding 10 assists, eight rebounds and three steals, stuffing the stat sheet in 31 minutes of action.
Now, it’s onto the next obstacle: West Virginia. And the Mountaineers (25-7) are no slouch, mounting an impressive season amid a difficult Big 12 conference. They put on a strong showing in their opening round game, too, a 63-53 win over Princeton.
Junior guard JJ Quinerly, the team’s leading scorer at 19.9 points per game, notched a game-high 29 points while playing all 40 minutes in the victory.
Can the Mountaineers pull off the upset and end Clark’s collegiate career in stunning fashion? Or will Clark continue to will her incredible season toward her ultimate goal, a national title?
Here’s what you need to know about Monday’s matchup between No. 1 Iowa and No. 8 West Virginia, including broadcast information and start time.
