One of the most exciting players in college basketball history is back in action.
Caitlin Clark will take the floor for her season debut when Iowa meets Farleigh Dickinson on Monday night. The Naismith Trophy winner is coming off a 2022-23 campaign in which she averaged 27.8 points, 8.6 assists, 7.1 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game and nearly propelled the Hawkeyes to a national championship.
The burden on Clark to once again carry Iowa will be heavy, but the 21-year-old is embracing her place in the sports landscape.
“I think if anybody can handle it, she can handle it,” Hawkeyes coach Lisa Bluder told ESPN’s Michael Voepel. “The stars lined up right for her. She came around at the right time in the right place. With NIL, with becoming one of the faces of college basketball.”
