Coming off losses in the finals and semifinals of their conference tournaments, respectively, Iowa State and Maryland are entering the NCAA Tournament hungry to get another win under their belt in March.
Iowa State is slated as a No. 7 seed with Maryland in the tournament as No. 10 seed. The Cyclones earned a double-bye in the Big 12 tournament and then proceeded to beat ranked Baylor and Oklahoma teams en route to losing in the final to a top-5 Texas squad.
Maryland was the No. 8 seed in the Big Ten tournament and went on to beat Illinois and knock off a ranked Ohio State team in the quarterfinals before losing to Nebraska.
The Cyclones’ Audi Crooks earned unanimous All-Big 12 first team honors while also being named to a spot on the All-Freshman team alongside Addy Brown. Crooks is averaging 18.9 points per game her freshman season.
Shyanne Sellers was named first-team All-Big Ten for Maryland, and Jakia Brown-Turner was named to the second team. Sellers earns first-team honors for the second consecutive season, this year averaging 15.3 points per game.
