When the Mercury take the floor for their 2023 WNBA preseason opener on Monday, all eyes will be on the potential return of star center Brittney Griner.
Griner will potentially take the court for the first time since being wrongfully detained for nearly 10 months in a Russian prison. The seven-time All-Star announced her plans to play in the 2023 WNBA season shortly after returning home to the United States.
While it has not yet been determined if she will play in either of the Mercury’s two preseason games, her first opportunity to retake the floor comes on Monday, May 8th against the Seattle Storm.
