West Virginia Mailbag: On Coliseum naming rights and Bob Huggins’ longevity

MORGANTOWN, WVa. — This is the first Mountaineer Mailbag since I gleefully entered fatherhood at the tender age of 49. My wife was a champ, my mother-in-law a much-appreciated house guest and our sweet daughter — despite arriving 26 days early — has been the coolest little pile of sugar, spice and everything nice.

One day I’ll have to explain to her the circumstances of #GirlDad and set her straight on impeachment, but in the meantime, I’m brushing up on the Suzuki method so that maybe she’ll start taking violin lessons at age 2 like Master Gunnery Sgt. Peter Wilson. Trips to the batting cage and the tennis court won’t be far behind.

Like every other sponsorship for Mountaineers athletics — United Bank, Gatorade, Nike, Coca-Cola, Kroger, State Farm, etc. — it’s a revenue stream, and potentially a lucrative one.
