The long wait for a singular women’s pro hockey league is finally over.

For months, The Athletic has been covering the beginnings of the Professional Women’s Hockey League — and the complicated, bittersweet dissolution of the Premier Hockey Federation — from the first player signings, to the first-ever draft and the teams’ Year 1 rosters.

Now, with the start of the league’s much-anticipated inaugural season, The Athletic is launching comprehensive coverage of the PWHL.

I will be writing about the league and women’s hockey full-time as we continue to build on The Athletic’s mission of going beyond the scoresheet to tell the stories you won’t find anywhere else — so you can get to know the players, coaches and staff that make up the PWHL.
