One of the most discussed and eventful matches of the week was the match between Jelena Ostapenko and Victoria Azarenka, at the Brisbane International 2024. The quarter-final match of the Australian WTA reserved many emotions for fans and crowds.
Speaking of court, the Belarusian beat the Latvian 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, but it was the controversy generated by Ostapenko that drove the fans crazy.
The Latvian was the protagonist of a moment of great controversy with the chair umpire.
In the third set, in fact, the number 12 of the WTA ranking felt that her ball had bounced twice into her opponent’s court, before it was returned to her. The chair umpire, of a different opinion, was then attacked by the 26-year-old, who protested vehemently, yelling very harsh words: “I don’t want you in my match anymore.
You will never be present in my match. You ruin it. my meetings.” Below is the video shared on X by The Tennis Letter.
