Washington State guard Charlisse Leger-Walker will miss the rest of the 2023-24 season following an ACL injury she suffered midway through Sunday’s game against UCLA, the program announced Wednesday.

Leger-Walker has been the Cougars’ most electrifying and dominant player since stepping foot on campus four years ago. The senior has started every game in which she has appeared for the Cougs, leading them to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (the program hadn’t made the NCAA Tournament since 1991 before Leger-Walker’s freshman season in 2021). She also led Washington State to the program’s first-ever conference tournament title last season, averaging 19 points through the Pac-12 tournament.
This season, the senior has been the Cougs’ steadying presence at point guard, averaging 5.1 assists, adding 13.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
The injury and recovery timeline also removes Leger-Walker, a New Zealand native, from playing with the Tall Ferns in their Olympic qualifying quest in China next month. Leger-Walker had been named to the roster earlier…
