Volleyball Today: SD State gets to 14-0; Hentz, De La Cruz-Mejía win AU openers

South Dakota State drew a record home crowd and improved to 14-0 with a Summit League sweep of Kansas City, but scratch San Jose State (9-1) off the unbeaten list after the Spartans were swept at Colorado State in the Mountain West.

Also Thursday, second-ranked Nebraska swept Illinois, No. 3 Penn State beat visiting Maryland in four sets, No. 8 Kansas won at Colorado and Tennessee Tech improved to 14-1 with an OVC sweep of Western Illinois, 

Hampton dropped to 0-16 when the Pirates were swept by Elon in the CAA.

NCAA volleyball Friday

The big one (because I’ll be there) is unbeaten No. 1 Pittsburgh at Boston College. Also in the ACC, No. 4 Louisville is home for Clemson, No. 5 Stanford is home for NC State, VolleyballMag Super 16 Media Poll No. 16 SMU is at Syracuse, AVCA No. 16 Florida State is at Virginia, No. 19 Georgia Tech is at Notre Dame in a battle of 8-3 teams, Wake Forest is at Cal, Miami is at Virginia Tech and, two days after sweeping at Duke, North Carolina (12-1, 4-0) is home for the Blue Devils.
