Volleyball Today: NCAA reverse sweeps galore; big upset for USF

A big upset and reverse sweeps. Lots of reverse sweeps.

Just another Friday in NCAA Division I women’s volleyball, but the number of comebacks from 0-2 deficits was incredible.

Among the reverse sweeps, No. 7 Penn State did it to No. 9 Kentucky on its homecourt, St. John’s did it at San Diego, West Virginia did it to visiting North Dakota State, Providence pulled it off at Brown, UConn did it at Colgate, Sacramento State did it to visiting NM State, Murray State made it happen against NC Central, Chattanooga reverse swept visiting Tennessee State and then also won in five when it beat Charleston Southern, North Dakota did it to visiting SIUE, Middle Tennessee pulled it off against visiting Southeast Missouri State, App State did it to visiting ETSU but then got swept by Kennesaw State, and Southeastern Louisiana got its first win against previously unbeaten Stephen F. Austin in a reverse sweep, 

The upset was by USF (South Florida) which won in five at No. 10 Florida, which is without its best player. 

The line of the day goes to UConn’s Emma Werkmeister, who had 29 kills, hit .356, and added four assists, four aces, 10 digs and a block. LSU’s Jurnee Robinson had 28 kills for the second time this season…
