CARY, N.C. – The Virginia women’s tennis team (18-5, 10-3 ACC) picked up a 4-3 victory against Miami (15-6, 9-4 ACC) in a quarterfinal match at the 2023 ACC Women’s Tennis Championship on Friday (April 21) at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
The Cavaliers won the doubles point and jumped out to a 3-1 lead against the Hurricanes, but Miami came back to tie the match 3-3. Freshman Annabelle Xu won the clinching point for the Cavaliers, winning a tiebreaker 8-6 to decide her second set on court four.
4-seed Virginia advances to face 1-seed North Carolina (28-0, 12-0 ACC) on Saturday (April 22) at 10 a.m.
*NOTE* Due to inclement weather in the forecast, Saturday’s semifinal will be played at the indoor courts at Duke.
