CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Three members of the Virginia women’s tennis team have earned invitations to compete in the NCAA Individuals Championships at Oklahoma State University’s Greenwood Tennis Center May 20-25 in Stillwater, Okla.
Senior Hibah Shaikh has earned an invitation to the singles championship, while juniors Elaine Chervinsky and Mélodie Collard will play in the doubles draw.
The NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Subcommittee selected the 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams that will compete in the 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championships.
Sophomore Annabelle Xu is the fifth alternate for the singles draw, and Shaikh and grad student Natasha Subhash are the 10th alternates for doubles.
This is Shaikh’s first time playing in the singles championship. She competed in doubles in her sophomore year. This is Collard’s second time playing in the doubles draw after advancing to the semifinals last season. This is Chervinsky’s first time playing in the doubles championship. She competed in singles during her freshman season.
Match-ups and the complete singles and doubles brackets will be announced the day before the start of the tournament.
